Update blog on the Corona Virus
Wednesday the 22th of April
A month has passed since the last update and in this time the corona crisis has been stable. The buildings of the university remain closed and in effect the PK too. However, the association and the board have stayed active. The first Paradoks Live show on the 27th of March was a big succes and two new online platforms have been set up for improved communications: discord (press here te join) and forums on the site (press here to go to the forums). The coming time the board will be busy implenting new (online) ideas for the association. Do you have any good ideas or suggestions? Let us know on the online reaction tube on the forum!
All education is offered online, including tests. Also in the recently started new modules in the fourth quartile. There is a good possibility that most of the education will remain online for the rest of the quartile.
In the meantime, the commissioners of educational affairs are doing their best to stay in contact with students and to bring their complaints to the right places. The student representative commitees (SVCs) are also doing their best to improve the online education.
Compliments from S.V. Paradoks to the students and the study boards, whom are continuing education online as good as possible.
Monday the 16th of March, 12:00
The board has had a meeting this morning to discuss the effects of the coronavirus on our association and the students. Concerning the association: all activities of S.V. Paradoks until the 6th of April are cancelled. The Technohal, and in effect the PK and the Technobar, are closed until further notice. However, the board will still be active and can be contacted through mail or whatsapp.
There is no new information about the studies. The university is setting up an online platform for the studies, which could possibly be online in week 13 (next week). Keep paying close attention to canvas and your studentmail for futher updates. This blog will also be updated when new updates appear.
This situation is obviously very bothersome, even more for committees who have put a lot of time and energy in organising (now) cancelled events. And while the board is also quite upset about the measures, in the end your health is the most important thing. So take good care of yourself and follow the instructions of the RIVM closely.
Friday the 13th of March, 18:00
There has been more information on the measures of the UT. The relevant points for members of S.V. Paradoks are:
- The Technohal will be closed for students, what in effects means that the Paradoks Room (PK) and Technobar will be closed until further notice.
- The tests for the upcoming week are cancelled. Alle practicals for the upcoming two weeks are cancelled.
- Alle meetings with study advisors can continue, but with skype, facetime or on the phone.
- We advise against meeting with your committee in person. You can consider using skype, facetime or calling on the phone.
As said before, the board of S.V. Paradoks will have a meeting on monday the discuss the continuation of activities and the consequences of these measures on the association. The members of S.V. Paradoks will be updaten with a mail on monday.
Friday the 13th of March 2020, 16:00
Since the 12th of March the government of the Netherlands has added extra measures to contain the spreading of the Corona virus. This has influence on the studies at the University of Twente, including Technical Medicine and Biomedical Technology. The board of S.V. Paradoks is in close contact with the heads of both studies, and will keep the members of our study association up to date. Keep paying attention to your student mail and canvas for further information from your study. At this moment the board of S.V. Paradoks doesn’t have additional information concerning your study.
Apart from study related measures, there will be changes in social activities. What these changes entail exactly is still unsure. It’s highly probable that events in the near future will be cancelled. There will be a meeting soon to discuss the opening of the Paradoks Room (PK) and the Technobar.
